My name is Rhiannon Baars and I am the owner of Dog Development. I am, as you might expect, absolutely passionate about dogs! They have always been a huge part of my life, and I am currently lucky enough to share it with two beautiful Border Collies.

I am extremely proud to be a Certified Pro Dog Trainer with Absolute Dogs. I am also a full member of The Pet Professional

Guild British Isles (Member No. 30001808). You can be assured that I will always uphold their Guiding Principles and Professional Ethics (www.ppgbi.com).

I am dedicated to staying up to date with the latest research and developments, and have attended courses, workshops and seminars run by internationally renowned experts in the field of canine behaviour and training. I will continue to update my knowledge and skills to ensure that all Dog Development clients can benefit from the most current information available.

Having witnessed first-hand the damage that can be caused by aversive training methods, I committed myself to never subject “man’s best friend” to out-dated, punishment based training methods. In my opinion, there is no place for techniques that cause pain or fear in dog training. They can cause physical and psychological harm, affect your dog’s well-being, and severely damage your relationship with them.

At Dog Development, we want training your dog to be a fun, rewarding experience for both of you. We use modern, kind, effective training methods, help you understand your dog, and allow your dog to understand what you want from them. We will show you what motivates your dog, how to reinforce desired behaviours, and how to have a dog that works co-operatively with you, building a strong bond and relationship. Our aim is to see happy dogs that understand how to follow the rules of the human world, and happy owners who understand their dogs, and know how to communicate effectively and fairly with them.
